Survival - Prepping: Other considerations

Anyone watch the National Geographic show 'Doomsday Preppers'? I think most of these people wish there was some sort of apocalyptic event. Hilarious how most of them are obese and have huge stockpiles of food.

Ok, I am not going to take the time to "quote" all the asinine shit posted (mainly by Dresden) but here are some quick thoughts:

- The email capabilities on Ham Radio are not dependent upon someones ISP. This works more off of the peer to peer principal with volunteer operators all over the globe. So there is redundancy in place.

- The fucking Zombies are real. I experienced them during Katrina. Right now the Zombie virus within them is dormant, because they subside off their baby momma's government assistance and section 8 housing. But as soon as the food stamp cards no longer swipe and make food appear, the WIC vouchers aren't honored and the power is cut off .... the Zombie virus awakens and these monsters start to roam and migrate. They may not want to eat your brains, but they sho' do wanna 'beat yo brains out and take yo shit'! Same fucking difference and the same level of intelligence to deal with. As a matter of fact the porch of my house is the highest point for 15 city blocks and I was dealing with floating Zombies for 6 days in 8- 14 feet of water. I know what the fuck I am talking about here. ZOMBIES ARE REAL!

- Nuclear Aftermath isn't as bad as you're making it out to be. I was taught how to survive it in various training's at Fort Benning after Ranger school as part of an advanced infantry exercise. If there isn't any rain to contend with and a normal jet stream, two weeks max and you're good to go (relatively speaking). Surviving the blast is another thing altogether. But it can be done and you can build a structure to withstand a blast yourself providing you don't live too far south, as I do. The water table prevents this from being affordable to the DIY'er. As for food and water... first two inches of topsoil need to be cleared and usually all is good to go ahead and plant, unless there has been heavy rains for extended periods. But still, not as bad as most make it out to be. Plus, there is a HUGE difference in what happened in Chernobyl versus a bomb going off. If our reactors start going all "Chernobyl" then yes, we're fucked!

- Dresden, you talk a good game on 'teh interwebs' and all. Go ahead and get your Ham Radio set up and give me your email addy through winklink so I can get an "internet tough guy update" when the SHTF. Or pass along your Sat #. I'll be standing by.

When you're evading Zombies, you don't want to blow the whole operation because you're hungry and want to heat up some beanie weanies or ravioli and have the smoke tip off everyone within a 15 mile radius that a) I'm here and b) I also have food!

Chlorine/bleach for water treatment (good for bartering)
Basic medical supplies
Moonshine kit
Propane stove
Battery efficient tablet loaded with porn + industrial sized generator for charging
Bobcat or small excavator for moat building
Mining rights to a rock quarry for castle wall formation
Matches, candles, solar powered items, etc
36ft+ sailboat to pickup the castle work force
Spare water containers/jugs
Individual pages of the bible to pay work force
Pistol(s) + Rifle(s) + Ammo

Optional items

Kevlar vest
Big dog
Seeds of fruit bearing plants/trees

I realize how difficult it can be to open your mind, when you're a simple minded bigot. Although taking what you need may be optimal in many scenarios, how can you be sure it's the right move in every scenario? Now I realize you're young, dumb, and full of cum. You are invincible. Amirite?

What happens when you have a medical emergency? What if the only way to get treatment is trade your possessions to get your broken arm set?

When your hiding in your cave, are you ever going to sleep? How secure can you be sleeping with no one looking out for you? You don't think small militias will be scouting out caves and lookout points? You may find it difficult to do everything needed to survive on your own. Just some food for thought. Normally when I think I have it all figured out there is usually a huge surprise waiting for me.
 
During hunger times in old Russia. People worked together. You guys watch to many movies.
