Rugby: Manlier than North American Football and the players are required to play offense and defence.
It's not just football (soccer), it's every sport:
Baseball = Shitty, simpler, less technical cricket with queer uniforms.
American Football = Softer, slower, less technical, less energetic rugby with queer uniforms.
Pattern emerging here... take a sport, make it less difficult to play, add queer sportswear and use it to sell Budweiser.
Defense*. You might want to spell check before you attempt to make such a bold statement. Also, funny how a lot of people in here are discussing sports when they have 0 athletic ability lol.
For every picture of a hot soccer-chick fan, there's probably 1,000 for football.

And for everyone of these there's about 1000s grossly overweight female 'handegg' fans.
Shut the fuck up. While I don't agree with Rage9 about his hatred for soccer, to say that American Football is softer then rugby is arrogant. How about your country gets your top rugby players to play against our top football players and our country will be laughing when your players get carted off the field because they got knocked the fuck out. It's not just football (soccer), it's every sport:

Yeah, I would LOVE to see guys like Peyton Manning play rugby and get destroyed.
You're absolutely retarded if you think any NFL player can suit up and play rugby. NFL sickens me. Name me any other sport where a player doesn't have responsibilities on offense and defence?
That's the beauty of Sport. Sure, in baseball you can put a Manny Ramirez in the line up, but you have to accept his liabilities in the outfield (assuming he isnt DH'ing). You can have a guy like Sidney Crosby on the ice, but you have to accept that he isn't that great in his own end. You have to accept the trade off.
You don't get that in the NFL. Imagine if guys like Manning had to play D as well?
The Wold Cup broke all kinds of record ratings its like the biggest sports event in the fucking WORLD

Baseball isn't a physical sport. I have no idea why you are bringing that up. Let me put it a different way. You put your best athletes (that play rugby) and we will bring our best athletes (who play in the NFL).
Right. And what sport will these best athletes be playing? Football? Rugby? Tiddlywinks?
That's yet another retarded comparison. You can't expect Rugby players to compete in a sport they've never played, and vice versa, can't expect NFL players to compete in a sport they've never played.
Pure overall toughness? Rugby all the way. Pure overall conditioning? Rugby all the way. Pure Hyper? NFL.
Rugby Training Regiment: 10k runs to build cardio
NFL Training Regiment: Hot DOgs and COkes to build mass so you can cover more ground
Yeah it's called the Super Bowl which is much more exciting than anything soccer puts out.
the superbowl is all commercial anyways. its rare ill actually enjoy the football played during the superbowl. the best games are always in the post-season.
I will admit the game is becoming less exciting. The way it was played in the 70's with the steel curtain was great. With Goodell going all hitler on the NFL players the hard hits have been lacking this year.I'd argue that the NFL in general is more sizzle than steak anyway. I can't honestly sit here and tell you that there aren't any exciting Football games because that would be a lie. Every sport has their share of exciting match ups, however I think the NFL Hype Machine is doing a wonderful job. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in to a sports bar on a Sunday after playing Hockey and see every TV with an NFL game on it, and guys just checking their scores on the games they've bet on, and caring more about whether they're covering their spreads than they do about the actual storyline of the game.
