Thankfully we lost the world cup to Qatar

I think the word technical is used in relation to skill, rather than running patterns.

Even so, point still stands. Do you know how much goes into the perfect execution of technique at the NFL level. It's insane. Take an offensive lineman for example. People that don't understand football like to think are just big slobs that simply get in the way of opposing pass rushers simply by being fat asses. Hand placement, leverage, first step, footwork, shoulder position, getting low etc etc all have to be absolutely perfect to exceed at the NFL level. They are constantly being coached to get this stuff perfect and these are guys who have been playing the game their entire lives (likely at a very high level to even make it in the NFL in the first place). It's just ridiculous to me the people on here talking shit, when they have zero clue about the game.

Watch some good football teams in Europe and you'll see the skill that it takes to be really good. I don't deny the NFL has amazing athletes, but nowadays when you get penalized for even looking at the QB wrong, something has to change.

And very few NFL players could hack it in Rugby, period.

You guys don't get the point...

The FIFA is trying to promote soccer in countries where it's less popular and where there is potential for growth.

They don't pick a host country based on how good they are on the international level. If that was the case they would have picked up England instead of Russia, and the US instead of Qatar.

They are giving the chance to other less known countries to host it (just like they did this year with South Africa). Qatar happens to have shitloads of money and the middle east has shitloads of soccer fans. I personally think FIFA made a smart move.

I see how areas where soccer has potential for growth are good places for World Cups. Its a great idea in theory. But in reality, I really don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. The FIFA Executive Committee is made up of representatives from various associations (countries all over the world). You don't think those votes can be bought? You don't think there is corruption? There were supposed to be 24 votes cast for the 2018 and 2022 WCs. Only 22 were cast because the Nigerian and Tahitian members were suspended when they were exposed for corruption by the British media.

Qatar is a fucking terrible location to host a World Cup.
  • Only 1 facility in place at the moment built to standards.
  • Access to alcohol is extremely limited. No one wants to go to the World Cup and stay sober. That's an abomination
  • Its going to be hilarious seeing white women from all over the world wearing fucking headscarves
  • The weather will be SHIT. Temperatures reach 122 degrees in the summer
  • Public transportation is SHIT
  • Their team is SHIT. They've never even qualified for the WC

I'll accept that it may be good for soccer in that region. But based on the merits of infrastructure, transportation, stadiums, and revenue potential, USA was clearly the best choice. But then again, I'm biased because I'm American.

Listen buddy, that's exactly what people were saying when South Africa got the World Cup. Everyone was freaking out because the state of the stadiums was horrible, not enough hotels, bad security, and millions of other reasons. Did the WC turn out that bad?

Qatar is in a far better situation now that South Africa a few years ago when they got the green light. They have the money and a great fan base. I think 12 years is enough time for them to be up to par with international standards. Knowing how those arabs like to FLASH their money, I can guarantee you that they could produce some high class stadiums just to show off to the world that they're rich.

ya, yanquees dont get FOOTBALL (not soccer) and never will.

That must be it. Fuck those dense Yanks. You superior people keep on "getting" soccer.

P.S. Were you going for "yanqueers"? Cause that would have been pretty cool, but I get the feeling you just suck at spelling.

rage, you are the worst troll i've seen over here. You need to get better at writing headlines man. Posting 2 fake answers to get people to click on your BS is just sad...

he's a fantastic troll, creating the same thread every few months and getting the same replies. e.g. fools posting pics of hot female soccer and nfl fans, What do they have to do with anything?!

it's a fucking joke england didn't get the world cup, closest it would have come to ireland

and did anyone see el classico last monday? unreal game, unreal team.

can we all agree this is ridiculous

lol- I'm not your buddy, pal. And yes, friends who went to SA told me transportation was a nightmare. They had to depart hotels a 10 miles away from stadiums 4-5 hours before kickoff. I also hated every fuckin second I had to hear those goddamn vuvuzelas. In the end, there was some good play, but it wasn't anywhere near a great tournament.

I'm not arguing their potential - if its something they can spend money on, its something they'll figure out how to fix. Money won't fix the abominable weather, fucked up social issues like headscarves and restrictions on alcohol, or that their national team which is going to get embarrassed in the group stage. I'm saying they got the WC by buying votes from the Executive Committee. Same thing with Russia.
