On the firing line
Okay, so there have been a bunch of whining lately that "Wickedfire is going downhill", or "There are too many n00bs starting stupid threads", or "My mom got fucked by the cat's chew toy and it's all Wickedfire's fault".

So, my challenge to you (and me, truth be told) is to do something about it. How many threads do we really need just bitching and moaning about one thing or another? Seriously? Aren't there already enough?

Here's what you can do to fix the "downward spiral":

1) Drop the elitist attitude. You are not the shit. You also started out somewhere and someone along the line had to help your dumbass get started also.

2) Post something useful. This may be very difficult for many of you, but try. Start a thread about how to code something in whatever language. Start a motivational thread. Give useful feedback to someone asking a question.

3) Stop worrying about what others are doing and build your own business. It's getting so fucking old to see these whiny posts about how so-and-so did this, or I-don't-believe-that-[name]-really-makes-[amount]. Get a life. Worry about what you are doing to make money.

4) Try to act professional occasionally. Even though this place has been built on bullshitting around and locker room talk, there are many that have taken it to far. Remember, there are many influential people that read this forum and you never know when you may need their help / advice or even meet them at a conference. Bear in mind that what they see here helps to formulate their opinion of you before you ever even meet.

So, that's my rant for the day. Take it or leave it.

I agree, Kaveman is the shit!

We should work on a newbie FAQ, cause that shit is getting out of control. People keep asking the same questions over and over... I know there is a newbie guide, but what I mean is a list to threads of commonly asked newbie questions that just piss me off!

I'll be up for that shit, I agree some questions are being asked over and over again by the noobs.

Sounds good to me. I have a few more 'nooby' oriented posts up my sleeve much like my case study post, but I'm reluctant to post it because of some of the assholes here complaining about it. So are you suggesting that I do not post them and just troll? I'm getting mixed ideas from this rant of yours.

Basically, my rant in a nutshell: post useful stuff, even if it may sound n00bish to you, participate, if a n00b asks a "dumb question" point them in the right direction vs. just flaming the shit out of them.

Flaming will always be a part of WF and that's part of what makes it fun, IMO, but it seems some people are taking it way too far. I'm guilty of this myself, so I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to come off as the knight in shining armor.

Everyone seems to agree that some things need to change, I'm just suggesting some changes that could have a positive impact on the community.

so I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to come off as the knight in shining armor.

Mike you'll always be my knight in shining armor teehee

WHY DON'T YOU STOP WHINING MIKE!!!! hahaha j/k

the noobies don't bother me too much for some reason. maybe b/c I am one :o

Good points, Mike. Like Ghandi said: BE the change you want to SEE.

I dont give a shit about newbs asking dumb questions, for christ sake I dont know shit and could be considered newb to allot of people, but what I cant stand are these fucking cum dumpsters that come off with shit like, I want something for nothing, like the shit bag that posted the other night in Traffic is supreme. I dont want to do SEO and I dont want to spend money , how can I get to the top or some shit!

If your a newb and ask a common sense question well than fine, but if your a newb and come off with dumb shit like, how do I build a website or how do I make $1000 per week, or better yet how do I rank without spending money, time or doing seo, well then yes your going to get flamed.

99% of you really dont know me, but I have and will take my time to help a person that needs it. What really bothers me is we are getting allot of shit bags looking to get something for nothing.

If you come off asking, how do i create hanging lists using CSS, or Ive tryed this seo technique and that and have not seen any results can I get some suggestions, well than fine, but this place has seen a steady decline in post quality and I dont mean just people posting that already know, from the people that dont know. We are letting to many retards in, i think this forum should go paid based on subscription, that would weed out allot of the Bs and keep things on the up and up on all levels, even if it were $10 per month or whatever.

I really love this forum though lately every time I come here I get worked up over some dumb shit and dont post or make an angry post, which makes myself look like a dick!

I completely disagree, I think that is the elitist attitude Mike referred to.

You will always know more than someone about something and someone else will always know more than you about some other thing.

Nice post, Mike.

Good post Mike, a good forum player can always turn a shitty thread into a good one by making great points or posts, so turn threads that are lemons into lemonade as the saying goes or just avoid idiotic threads and they will get buried or deleted by management.

If you guys do that, quality will go up and there will be less bitching, I will tell you that big egos on forums are always a problem, attention seekers, trolls and vain people always ruin forums, so just be real and make relevant posts and the forum will improve.
