Well...shit.

Sorry to hear this Mike.. But I agree with what the others have been saying: Things happen for a reason. I've "been there" as well. Came to work one day like usual, and the next thing I know - 15 minutes later, I was packing up my desk into a box and going home! No prior notice. Nothing.
(Btw, this was one of the dot-com companies that crashed in 2000, called Elftech.com)

That shit would never happen where I live now (by law, you have to be given a 3-month minimum notice).

Anyway.. I know it is hard and all when it happens. I had a family with 2 kids then too as I do now and I didn't know how I was gonna pull through with all the bills and responsibilities.
But in retrospect I am glad it happened. I soon found a new and much better paying job and learned a lot from the whole thing.

PM me if you'd be interested in $100 for each new dedicated server ordered through the international site of my hosting company referred by you. (Moderators: before you shoot med down for promoting my own affiliate shit... I don't run an affiliate offer for my own company, but this is a personal offer to SEO_Mike to help him out of this situation).

I am now working towards quitting my current 9-5 job for the sole purpose of becoming a fulltime dedicated affiliate marketer. I know this is my destiny. :)

I'm late to the party, but sorry to hear about this Mike, and I know you'll recover just fine. Like others said, things happen for a reason.

That really sucks. Anyone who fires somebody should have the balls to call them into an office sit them down face-to-face and explain the situation to them. I don't care how many people get fired or the rest. It is a huge pussy move. I have been unfortunate enough to have to fire quite a few people in my life and it sucks hard. But you still have to do it the right way. There are no excuses. No lock-outs, no keyboard missing games, no e-mails and no phone calls. If someone is going to take the responsiblity and associated benefits of beign a manager then they got to take the shit.

Unfortunately this is much too common these days as people who mire in the muck of 9-5dom often don't have balls because the people who have balls ultimately leave and do their own thing.

Mike just start pushing it harder then ever and I am sure things will work out. I am making a lot more money now then I would have ever likely made working for someone else even if it took some time, some sweat and overcoming some challenges.

you're welcome to 1 hour of my intern each day. he's not gay (although if he keeps spending so much time here, who knows) but maybe can help you with keyword research or building links to your site. just keep him the fuck off aim. anyways chin up and all that mike. come up with daily and long term plans and go kick ass.

Damn it- I was just about to say... IgAnand made a post and it wasnt in response to mine or about me! but no :(

P.S. IgAnand- dont worry about AIM, I've got GoogleTalk now and it works amazing :)

I read through this post a couple of times, and still can't figure it out.
Is it supposed to be motivational?

It sounds like you are pretty screwed and there's some type of disconnect with owning the playboy mansion at 50.

Maybe it's time to take the blue pill and crawl out of the rabbit hole.

Keep drooling when you see me on TV sailing with five hot blonde babes.

Just because you're an unmotivated idiot, it doesn't mean everyone is the same way.

Semi related story:

The company my wife worked for (5 years) laid her off the week after she went on maternity leave via a snail mail letter.

I hate pussy ass firings like that. I got fired because I didn't kiss a boss's ass once, of course he couldnt fire me himself but made some underling call me on an off day and do it for him.

He nearly shit his pants when I still showed up for work the next day.

Sorry Mike. If it makes you feel better I was "let go" a week after I started maternity leave via certified mail. The bitches didn't even have the courage to call me in a for a meeting. The company was small (4 non-family, 3 family) and they always said I was like a daughter to them. Some parents they are. I sent them a thank you card.

Hope things take off for you soon.

Yeah that's gotta suck

And this brings us to another point: "job security" and "loyal service" are not real.

No matter how liked a person is at their job, they will get fired if a boss feels like it.
No matter how loyal you think you've been, you will get fired if a boss feels like it.

Why would a person want to put 100% of their income on shoulders of a "boss"?

Isntead - diversify and apply as much funds as possible into generating passive income systems. Businesses, real estate, websites, etc etc etc.

That way if one area fails, you have 9 other to fall back on.

It's what they call an "illusive obvious" :)

SEO Mike,

You don't know me, but I feel like I know you by reading your blog and hearing about your tatooed ass from everyone on this forum.

Does everything happen for a reason? Was it meant to be? I don't know about that philosophical bullroar. But it seems like you are well on your way to making a fine living online.

I have one tip: DELEGATE aka LEVERAGE. Outsource what you can't do yourself in a timely manner. Never before have we lived in a time where this was possible for the little man doing business.

The World is Flat brother. Keep walking tall.

Is this before or after you own a playboy ripoff at 50 years old?

What he's saying is he'll be standing on a TV box, floating up the river with 5 playmates from the 1970s issue....30 years from now.

good luck.
We're all rooting for you.......NOT

SEO_Mike,

We've never really spoken, but I've learned a lot from reading your threads. I wish you the best of luck man. I went to work one morning and there were chains on the door. Turns out the owners of the company were wanted for tax evasion and a whole slew of other things. Needless to say, I didn't even get paid for my last few weeks of work with that company. So, I know where you're coming from, and I know how rough it can be.

It's a long road, but you'll make it. After I lost that job, I found another one that paid me twice as much. Things always happen for a reason.

Best of luck!!!!!

It looks like you got some good friends on WickedFire who want to help you out, so you're already one step ahead of the game.
