I believe if God wanted us to reside in heaven, then he would have created us as such. The notion we are placed on Earth for a small while as sort of a 'trial' where we can prove our worth to him for a pass through heaven's gate sounds ridiculous.
I believe in Jesus, Christianity, etc, etc. I just don't buy the notion of burning in a fiery hell for viewing MMO on my computer all day. The idea of a fiery hell of torture is just the tool a corrupt human race can use to control the masses and the fact that God would send you there for eternity almost sounds blasphemous. Why would a loving God, supreme being of the universe be so cruel as to condemn his children to an eternity of torture for a few years of sin?
The hellfire and torture theory/teachings also suggests God is in a cooperative relationship with the devil which sounds even more preposterous.
Lol so you simply pick and choose what parts of the Bible you believe? That's no insult, I've just never heard of anyone doing that.
I think it's easy to write it off as mere fearmongering or profit for some. That seems overly simplistic to me. According to some, because of the way the universe is designed, it's physically impossible for sinful people to be in God's presence.
So he literally has no choice but to separate them from the rest of his creation. I doubt God enjoys seeing his creation suffer, but it makes sense that if they break his rules, he has no choice and can't display favoritism.
But supposedly Hell was initially created solely for Satan and his angels. And if you're remotely interested in that sort of thing, I'd suggest checking out this dude [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i22LzrD9nts&feature=PlayList&p=4DE7F248AF4856A0&playnext_from=PL&index=0&playnext=1"]Bill Wiese's story[/ame].

The second one is about a couple doctors who started believing in it because of how many experiences they had with dying people.
You might not believe any of it or think they're scaring people or trying to make money, but I definitely found it interesting. Honestly, I think it's a lot harder to believe in a Hell than it is not to believe, simply because of the sheer lengths one has to go to envision such a scenario and the implications that would mean for this world. But hey, whatever works for you man. It just seems like it would be hard reading your Bible thinking, "Well, I believe that" and then a couple verses later "but I don't believe that".
