So then what the fuck? What makes them different from any other Joe Republican?

Way to sully the name of an actual act of rebellion against government infringement of liberties by turning it into a new ploy to get Sarah Palin elected... assholes.

if you believe in that shit, you might as well worship Tolkien.....its all the same stuff.

For a while, after I had realized how stupid religion was (around 14), I made up my own idea of what after death was like. I really bought into it for a bit cause it made alot of sense to me and made me feel better. Then I realized I was no different from everyone else that needed certainty in the most uncertain moment of our existence (death) and finally I grew up an accepted that there was probably nothing at all ,and if there was, not a single one of us would ever figure it out.

I wouldn't say I'm a religious person (never go to any church or anything) but I believe in God and..... I believe in this:

finally I grew up an accepted that there was probably nothing at all

Think back to before you were conceived. Do you remember anything? Nope, because you didn't exist.

Same will be true after your heart stops beating .... you will cease to exist.

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
-Mark Twain

no, you would rather christianity be the state sponsored religion than islam. I would rather there not be one. that's the difference.

Displyaing an image of a set of laws carved on stone (be it fictional or not) that inspired our laws does not mean that the state sponsers religeon.

Are athiest so reluctant in their beliefs that they are afraid a concrete respresnetation of the ten commandments are going to turn them into Christians? Wana be athiest are as bad as the gays.

So you believe in God, but no afterlife?

Sounds like a group with their head screwed on correctly.........Your point?

Would you rather replace Bush with Obama and Maddow in place of Beck?

No, but the favorable opinion of Bush is a shock because he and Obama did the same things. The low favorable opinion of Ron Paul is probably due to not knowing much about him.

"62% think the benefits of social security and medicare are worth the cost to taxpayers"

This one's a joke, because these are socialist programs that we should get rid of. They could easily be replaced.

I want "In No God Do We Trust" on our money. Also, insert "Under No God" into the pledge of allegiance. (Which god are we talking about, anyway? You've effectively made god meaningless, lol.)

No wait, that would be imposing my atheism. Why can't it just be neutral?

INDIVISIBLE, under god...... Umm..... you just divided us.

So you believe in God, but no afterlife?

It caught my attention as well. I do believe this is the first time I've heard of this notion.

Makes sense though, If I were a god I would create a bunch of shit just cause I could, but there's no way I'd want any of you whiny bitches with me for eternity.

I believe if God wanted us to reside in heaven, then he would have created us as such. The notion we are placed on Earth for a small while as sort of a 'trial' where we can prove our worth to him for a pass through heaven's gate sounds ridiculous.

I believe in Jesus, Christianity, etc, etc. I just don't buy the notion of burning in a fiery hell for viewing MMO on my computer all day. The idea of a fiery hell of torture is just the tool a corrupt human race can use to control the masses and the fact that God would send you there for eternity almost sounds blasphemous. Why would a loving God, supreme being of the universe be so cruel as to condemn his children to an eternity of torture for a few years of sin?

The hellfire and torture theory/teachings also suggests God is in a cooperative relationship with the devil which sounds even more preposterous.

I had the same reaction after watching Independence Day. You're telling me these highly intelligent beings, ridiculously more evolved than we are with their technology and communication only know how to behave like giant Locusts? yyyyyyyyyy'ok.

Lol so you simply pick and choose what parts of the Bible you believe? That's no insult, I've just never heard of anyone doing that.

I think it's easy to write it off as mere fearmongering or profit for some. That seems overly simplistic to me. According to some, because of the way the universe is designed, it's physically impossible for sinful people to be in God's presence.

So he literally has no choice but to separate them from the rest of his creation. I doubt God enjoys seeing his creation suffer, but it makes sense that if they break his rules, he has no choice and can't display favoritism.

But supposedly Hell was initially created solely for Satan and his angels. And if you're remotely interested in that sort of thing, I'd suggest checking out this dude [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i22LzrD9nts&feature=PlayList&p=4DE7F248AF4856A0&playnext_from=PL&index=0&playnext=1"]Bill Wiese's story[/ame].

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJo9Bizuufw"]This video[/ame] is pretty interesting too.

The second one is about a couple doctors who started believing in it because of how many experiences they had with dying people.

You might not believe any of it or think they're scaring people or trying to make money, but I definitely found it interesting. Honestly, I think it's a lot harder to believe in a Hell than it is not to believe, simply because of the sheer lengths one has to go to envision such a scenario and the implications that would mean for this world. But hey, whatever works for you man. It just seems like it would be hard reading your Bible thinking, "Well, I believe that" and then a couple verses later "but I don't believe that".

Let's just say that I would also find it noteworthy if 57% of an anti-boobie magazine group had a favorable opinion of Hugh Hefner.

While Bush was for the bailout, admitted socialist Sanders was against it :

I'd love to see proof of a scripture in the bible where hell is specifically mentioned as a place of eternal torment and not mentioned in the context of death or simply returning to dust.
