What do you tell your friends and family?

..my aunt tells some of her shady friends how well her brother-in-law is doing, and her friends ambush him one night when he's taking out the trash. She had no idea her friends would do that, she just thought she was saying nice things about her brother-in-law.

That was just for having a full-time job as a mechanic, and working a lot of overtime. Not even rich or privileged. Just a few good paychecks is enough to motivate people to come rob you at gunpoint in your own home.
Do you know that low-middle class people get robbed/burgled the most? It's because they don't have the power/resources to protect what little they have.

Just another reason why it's better to be super-rich than peasant-rich.

9 times out of 10, people that brag about their earnings obsessively are broke fucks trying to prove their worth to the world. It's a disease more people in this country are catching every day. SPS (Small Penis Syndrome).

Also there is a big difference between making a lot of money and having a lot of money. I know people that make over a $1m a year and still have to pawn their jewelry every month to pay their $15k/mont RENT 10 days late. Sure they live better than you but they're far from rich.

EARNINGS != WEALTH.

I agree with you on the SPS.

And I hate to brag, but I was think more of like buying my nephews and nieces good presents and helping sending them to private schools and like driving a £30K car instead of a £10K car.

For me... I think thats kinda of boasting... which I am not comfortable with at all, and I also dont want to cause feeling of negativity etc.

Like Joseph and his brothers (A biblical story - and even went as far as trying to kill him becoz he was their fathers favorite).

Maybe its better to help on a small level and just say you dont do other shit and keep the other stuff on the lowkey(i.e I dont party every other weekend and buy bottles or travel every other month to a new country and drive a £30K benz thats paid for in cash).

Dont you have your family asking you to help out here and their becoz they think you have cash up your ass ?

And dont they tell their friends and have everyone treat you different from how they used to be?

Thats what I am kind of scarred of, I dont know about the OP.

But I think it might be safer to not talk and show your wealth to your near ones too much.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Has anyone here experienced this after it became aparant you have money?

Just grow a pair and stop being such a loser. No one needs to know how much you make, or what you do.

Don't spend your money on status identification. Really successful people don't need to do that.

People are going to hate you for something, it might as well be for success. I'm not sure how anyone can call it "bragging" when you pay to better your family's lives. Most of the time it's jealousy. Shrug it off. Bragging is wearing a $10k watch and calling people a peasant because they don't earn as much as you do.

Like Joseph and his brothers (A biblical story - and even went as far as trying to kill him becoz he was their fathers favorite).
Haters are gonna hate. Which is why it's best to keep a low profile.

Driving around in cars that cost more than most peoples houses make you a target. Keep a low profile if you don't want to be noticed. Personally I could give a shit what people think about me.

I always tell them I'm in the Internet business not the banking business. If they want a loan go to a bank. Most of my family is successful so I don't have this problem as much as some might.

And dont they tell their friends and have everyone treat you different from how they used to be?
If you don't act different then that makes them a liar now doesn't it?

Fear. Just fear. Get over it.

What you do is no one's business.
Does this include next of kin?

I'm getting mixed messages from different posts on this thread (and on other threads on this topic - including on other forums) - for some people it's okay to reveal your deepest secrets to immediate family and even 1st-degree relatives. Others wouldn't even out their least profitable niche to their sister.

I mask my wealth through my door-to-door toothbrush sales. Everyone assumes I'm ballin' from that instead of my IM ownage. Colgate FTW!

Imagine you work at McDonalds. Your job is to flip burgers and mop the kitchen. How much work talk you going to do with your kin?

That's about as much as is necessary.

Obviously there will be exceptions, but no one needs to know. They really, really don't.

Keep things simple. Take care of people when you can, and work hard. Everything else is gravy.

Everyone I know outside of business would hang themselves with boredom if I started talking about day-to-day business shit.

For all they know, I'm a work-at-home Geek Squad employee.

I don't ask my brother about his landscaping business because I don't give a fuck about it.

He doesn't ask me about my "computer stuff" because ditto.

I've never had anyone really ask more than a casual "oh...what do you do" to which I answer "web developer" and they give a polite "oh cool" and then the conversation turns elsewhere.

Serious answer: I try to hang around other highly motivated, smart people.

Conversations with my friends rarely are about business, but when they are it is because they are interested in something I'm doing and they don't judge me negatively for being successful because odds are that they're also ambitious and working towards a goal they have.

If your friends judge you negatively for being successful (or worse try to leach off your success) it might be time for some new friends.

OP is a flaming faggot that is theta-male. That's below beta.

Grow a dick. Maybe a brain too - but that might change your relationship with everyone you know.

I hate talking about business all the time. Friends of mine in the marketing biz who won't shut up with the constant business talk are very tiresome. While in the company of relatives, discussing my business is actually a relief because they're very conventional.

I'm the only one in my family who makes a living doing something a little different, and I manage it without the benefit of nepotism or an expensive education.

Hell all of you know what I do and know the industry and you guys still like to operate under the illusion that I'm a mommy blogger. I don't even have a blog.

So, yeah, like the rest of the world is supposed to understand what I do. I find it easier this way though. People just never see you coming.
