What happened to WF?

Thankfully, CREAM rises to the top. Whatever money you "save" buying bad/low quality service is more than outweighed by the opportunity costs/low sales you suffer.

Complaining about all the "bad offers" out there is a waste of time. Focus instead on stepping YOUR OWN GAME up and you should be okay.

How about anyone with > 2,000 posts has the ability to ban

PLUS

You need > 100 posts to start a thread in BST

That would certainly clean up a lot of garbage. Some good men might get wrongfully banned here and there, but in the end it would be a good thing!

$10/month + more dickrolls + more bans & moderation + established bst provider subforum behind the monthly paywall

would be a good start

Or just pay someone full time to ban people.

$.02

Sometimes I feel like I need to work. This is rare, mind you. Then I start thinking about all the sites that need attention. Then I'm like, dang, I should probably just pay someone to do all this. Then I head over to B/S/T, get discouraged by all the bullshit, and then go back to playing Team Fortress.

Replace TF2 with COD4 or SC2 and we may be long lost brothers.

Interesting ideas. I'm just a few posts shy of the first ability then :)

Anyway, the > 2000 posts ban ability idea might be too much. You wouldn't want this place to turn into BANISTAN or LURKISTAN

People would stop posting because they are afraid of offending someone with ban ability.

Your second idea might have legs though

So, having not been here long I don't want to step on toes; or shoot myself in the foot... But…

What if you set a minimum privilege/rep level before allowing someone to create a thread (maybe something similar to the iTrader)? But only give people who have already met that minimum requirement post feedback or give +1’s.

It's a system that would prevent new users from creating mass accounts just to boost one accounts ranking. It would clean up the low post wonders who seem to have flooded the BST form with crap, and most importantly it would strengthen thread quality, because only those whose past opinions have been valued would be able start a new topic.
Just my two cents.

As much as I like to bust Jake and Guerilla's balls about this being the free market at work, I have to agree that more bans will not solve the problem. Guerilla brings up a good point about exclusivity, and although it shouldn't be enforced site wide (we need a constant flow of new blood), it should definitely be enforced in BST.

Stanley or Jon, please make it so users must have 100 posts to start a thread in BST. You want to get ahead of this problem before this place becomes DP Junior.

This strategy will compel more crap posts to reach 100 mark, which is fine if mods are wielding their hammers but won't do much if not. Like flushing birds with an unloaded shotgun in hand.

You're not busting our balls, because it isn't a free market, and only a fool would make such an argument. I can't speak for Jake, but I laugh when you post stuff like that. It's like little brother so badly wants to fit in with the big kids.

I have to agree that more bans will not solve the problem.
Oh man, don't turtle. More regulation!

This strategy will compel more crap posts to reach 100 mark ...
Unintended consequences from artificial barriers to entry caused by UG's regulatory recommendation. Gee, who woulda thunk it...

I posted the same thing yesterday and I got cock rolled by a bunch of dick smokers.

I spend tons of money in the B-S-T but because of my low post I cant express my concerns. Thanks for noticing!

I think someone in India may have developed a new FB software!

Or it's because you're bitching about newbies when you've been here for one month, you dick knuckle.

Probably because not everyone is rolling in easy dough anymore due to the rebill collapse. And those that are still are making dough are innovating and aren't about to give up there method on a public forum.

On a side note, PPV playbook forum is pretty good, but different. The members here are one of a kind. Mostly unapologetic, asshole who work hard, play hard. How can you not respect that? lol

There is currently no regulation over BST, and providers are free to compete however they choose. How is that not a free market?
A free market has to do with private control of private property. Not anything goes. You are seriously in over your head on these topics.

As far as "no regulation"

Where is the "currently no regulation"???

Post count rules won't work in my opinion, people will just post shit to get to 100 posts. People could do that in a morning in shoot the shit and as long as they are a bit subtle about it will never get caught

Make providers pay $100 for the privilege to sell on BST, that should cut out a lot of the scammers and flakers in a heart beat.

Why don't mods just implement some kind of privilege system. Each forum account is either enabled or disabled to be allowed to start new threads in BST.

Each account is automatically disabled upon creation, and automatically enabled upon reaching 100 posts. If a mod sees some retarded guy posting wafo/dp bullshit in BST, then they simply disable that user from starting new threads in BST and close any open threads.

I like this, but instead of having it enabled on 100 posts, require 100 posts to be able to post to a sticky asking for approval to be enabled.

Or, do it like we do ban threads and have current members vote on enabling their account. 5 votes from members with over 1,000 posts and 10+ iTraders is required to have a mod enable their account. That way active BST users know to keep tabs on their new threads.

A paid solution won't help. Just look at WaFo. You need to pay $77 just to create and account and post one WSO there. Then, you have to pay $20 nearly every day if you want to keep your thread on the first page. It's great for making money for the forum owner, but still leads to a ton of shit infesting the marketplace.

No, the best tool is having current members patrol and keep the shit out.
