What happened to WF?

Still awaiting any mod's say on this thread

Not much to say. This has all been said before. In the end it's only up to Jon to implement new rules (eg 100 post rule) or add more mods (to help with massive amounts of garbage posts).

Remember as much as we mods love this place, we gotta go make money too ;).

So what is his position, did he speak about it somewhere already? I don't see why this could not be implemented.

I agree the 100 post thing will just lead to a bunch of crap posts.

I think someone mentioned something like this earlier. Assign a BST Mod that can review services (only proven ones, not every new one) in the regular BST section. Then have a premium BST forum where only mod approved members can post (ones that have proven to deliver a certain service for a decent amount of time with quality of course). This privilege should be revoked if the quality drops.

This would increase the quality of certain services and make these premium members that are delivering a quality service a lot more money. They will probably have to scale their business just from being in this forum.

Interesting thread heh.. I feel like an asshole even posting right now because I just joined a couple days ago, but..

The main reason why there is so much crap in the BST lately is likely because a Warrior Forum member sold a WSO on posting seo services here since it's free to post... and then outsource the work..

I've seen some that say.. "I will ______ for $XX".. Half of them are just outsourced fiverr gigs and people are actually buying. pretty sad. Some of them are at least smart enough to rewrite what they say about the service tho..

I bought the WSO, read through it, looked at some fiverr gigs to outsource.. and decided not to cuz that's just kinda shitty imo... Then I had the idea to post a crazy link structure i've been using lately and actually do the work myself.. have neato graphics like the others.. cheezy title etc.. lol. probably do that here in a few hours. calling it "GOOGLE STOMP" :)

I can't speak for Jake...

You come at things logically. This has been clear for years. So, feel free to speak for me. ;)

At UG:

You're not busting my balls. I have a keen sense of what is logically derived, and dismiss anything that is not (including positions I've taken). Plus, when I'm about to post, I always consider my options:

A. post on WF
B. spend time with family or friends
C. read (learn)
D. make fun of women
E. make money

This has all been said before. In the end it's only up to Jon to implement new rules (eg 100 post rule) or add more mods (to help with massive amounts of garbage posts).

Here's how I imagine a conversation with Jon about this stuff:

Me: "Jon, ya gotta do something. WF is deteriorating."
Jon: "You want to buy WF?"
Me: "No."
Jon: "You want to advertise on WF?"
Me: "No."
Jon: "You want to moderate WF?"
Me: "No."
Jon: "Then, why are you bothering me?"
Me: "Good question."

Regarding SBT, if I need someone to write, link, design, program, etc., I'll ask folks whose opinions I trust. I no longer trust itrader.

A 100-post requirement will solve nothing. It will seem to be a solution over the short run, like sex with a partner you despise. But it will be gamed. We'll look back in a year, and realize we're saddled with another rule.

Curious why people are selling their writing services for a penny or less per word. My wife is on textbroker and she makes 1.5 cent or more per word. She can pick and chose what she wants to write and not have to deal with the people so inept they can't describe what they want to save them selves. Is it as simple as they can't write above the 4th grade level or is their content dull, and filled with grammar and spelling issues?

Hey I just skimmed through this so maybe it was suggested already but in terms of the BST why not split it up into 2 sections? I know WF likes to keep shit simple but the BST could be significantly improved if you had 1 section for established sellers and another for noobs. Call it the sandbox if you will. The criteria could be debated on how and when you get into the "higher level" BST...either by vote, X amount of itraders (for that particular service) or feedback in the thread, etc..or heck maybe charge even something crazy like $250? Any good seller with a quality service can recoup that in no time.

That way if I'm looking for some quality workers I can go into the established section and if I feel like trying out some new service I'll skim through the noob service section and see if anything catches my eye. I think this would be better for sellers as well because if a service really stands out and it's in the higher up section the seller will be able to charge a fair price and won't have to try and undercut all the noobs.

lolwut?

"Currently" because Mods recently let the place go to shit with a lack of enforcement - hence the thread. I never said there aren't rules in place, the problem is they aren't "currently" being enforced. I'm guessing only you and the entire subcontinent of India are in favor of having BST completely unregulated.

edit: No knock on the Mods of course. They're understaffed and unpaid, just pointing out the obvious for someone that should be smart enough to see it...

blah blah blah none of this shit matters cause jon's never going to get around to doing it. i'd add more mods but i don't have the ability to do that. all your pixels are belong to us.

Why doesn't he just make you an Admin, or at least a custom Usergroup with the power to assign people to a mod group with banning privilages? You've been here since the beginning of WF, and it's not like you're going to let those you help mod the place go apeshit with unfair bannings.

No. As already stated - if member posted crappy post in order to inflate his post count he would be banned.

Or it can be 100 posts and minimum 3 months membership (or whatever number)

I haven't really been in there in a while, but when something like that fivver shit gets in, zingo is pretty quick to shut them down; the problem is a lot of them study what he and the other mods say and do. When new member accts can't start threads for yahoo answers or lists, they will come in with old accts from 2008.

Another thing is that unfortunately, there is a market for shitty copy and spammy links. I know 10 or 15 things off the top of my head I could do with services of that type of quality.

I'm all about protecting buyers and sellers from straight-up scams, but buyers and sellers need to do a fair amount of due diligence toward the other party. If you are constantly giving money to people and never getting the quality you expect, you're doin it wrong.

No, we're currently being overrun by WaFo, DP, and BHW assholes doing exactly this NOW. The mods cannot keep up and there are plenty of them that started out this way with a thousand posts by now... In short it's successful strategy already at this time to spam WF.

-But this will give them an incentive to spam more!

The 100-posts barrier is the worst idea evar.

One idea that might work is an "Am I A Spammar" button on everyone's profile area... As long as you leave the Neg & Positive rep system separate, it could be used well. (Especially if the algorythm can recognize that different members clicked "Yes, I'm a spammar" at the same and different posts.

-Just the sight of such a button would tell spammers from the very beginning that they're being watched carefully here and can be ixnayed by the general population.

PS: Whichever Mod let BeLikeThat back in after what he pulled did the community the worst harm of all. -I now only trust SBT about 50% as much as when I first loaded this page.
