OUCH:
"Perhaps Google is right. Perhaps the future lies in learning as much about people’s personal lives as possible...Perhaps if they offer an ad for a divorce lawyer because I am writing an email about my 14 year old son breaking up with his girlfriend I’ll appreciate that ad enough to end my own marriage."
I hope Google + dies soon

^Just coming here to post that. Sheesh the future isn't looking bright for ANYONE these days... Feds moving in, smart ppl moving out... We seem to be approaching a major turning point at teh googles. I'm nervous.
It's already dead, just a zombie at this point.
I'm pretty sure Darpa and the NSA have had their hands in some of the smart grid meter and self driving car stuff over the last few years, both of which are quiet big brother projects at Google. Started with CIA money, open partnership with NSA...yeah. Google doesn't quite live up to its motto.^Just coming here to post that. Sheesh the future isn't looking bright for ANYONE these days... I wonder how many sheepsheses will see that RT headline and think that the director of Darpa just wanted to make a lifestyle change and head over to the private sector to make more money or something... It can clearly only mean one thing.

I've really wanted to get away from Google but the damn whores make it so hard. I haven't found anything which beats their search (suggestions? I would have expected Bing to be second best but Googles relevancy is just on a whole other level) and they just make it so easy to integrate your life into their services.
Google represented some big brands at some point

EDIT: Just read the article. Good read, although just restating facts that have been pushed around this board for quite a while.
I believe Startpage.com uses Google results and makes them anonymous.
