Over The Counter Alternatives To Adderall

Seems like one of those supplements that needs a crucial ingredient called placebo.
I think I agree with you on this.

Compared to caffeine, which I use sparingly as a productivity booster this doesn't really do that much (with that being said I'm super sensitive to caffeine, and 1 Monster drink will keep me awake for 24+ hours in a row).

Looking over the ingredients it seems like taking a pill like this would be no different than eating salmon and blueberries (which are both good for your brain) and then claiming your more productive because of it.

Most nootropics that aren't also stimulants are probably healthy for your brain in the long run, but have never, for me, provided a huge productivity boost.

Hmmm...

the weirdest thing in AlphaBrain is the GABA.

So far, most studies suggest that this does NOT pass the blood-brain barrier in any meaningful quantities.

And even if it would, this would NOT make you "more productive", as GABA is a neural inhibitor. It might rather calm you down as in "the opposite of a double espresso".

Anybody tried "kratom"? Originates in Thailand but it's been illegal here since 1943, although it grows wild in the jungle so can be found many places.

It is not a controlled substance in the U.S. and Canada. Said to give a pleasant opiated happiness but with a strong alertness/motivational effect. Apparently used to good effect by some people. Haven't tried it myself. Possible addictive if taken regularly in high doses.

you you ya'll.....

haven't been on here in somes good times.... i've just been busy going through a nervous breakdown trying to figure out how to manage 40 goddam writing teams and lord knows what else effectively on way too much work .... but hell the money's good, and i'm trying to actually use this period to learn some more advanced project management stuff, get PA who is just an assistant and manager - to help me manage everything etc and get a sweet basecamp project management thing going... it is the step i have to be making and it will be truly epic once i have some REALLY SYSTEMS in place....

anyway - hope all you awesome floobs and spambags have been doing well yourselfs ;-)

of course this is the thread i magically click an email and end up tele-ported to! About my comments earlier in it, please don't read into it anything - hell i could be just posing right .. ya

but as i note the KRATOM question above, being somewhat of a botanical adventurer i did get into trying a variety of this stuff over the last year and overall have nothing bad a fair bit of good to say about the stuff, except that it is easy to get ripped off... PM me on that too for some good trustworthy shops... ONLY if you are in Canada i think - or maybe it is ok in us too, i forget

Kratom is a very interesting and novel plant - used in thailand and bali (those are the two main types your generally find - though a LOT of variation and potency differences...) especially as you get the 10x 20x 30x etc concentrates

The stuff tastes like... well, frankly, dried old dirst, a bit of rot and moss with some greens plus bad taste to top it off (especially if you just pop in a full spoon and stick it in your mouth as i do (and at higher potencies)....

still though, Ayahuaska this is not.... KRATOM is a mild experience, but definitely noticeable - and pleasant - it does give a good uplifitng spimulant effect i have happily worked on many times, paradoxically it also have some sort of opioid receptivity hence it have some 'narcotic' behaviors as well.... nothing really psychedelic about it but you tend to feel lighter, airy, temperature changes etc.... for those so disposed worth a look....

there is a complex sociopolotical circumstance surrounding it for hard to understand fully reasons, i wont go into that here.... but if you are interested i think ... well, google - K _ _ _ _ _ - then look for one with the _____ king - i think that is one of your best bets....

and it DOES really depend on dosage - and kind, and concentration, and i have had one effect from and identical batch (too much later to be tolerance) and not repeated it.... but when it is nice it is quite nice... look this isnt an e your are taking, or whatever - but it sure isn't a sugar pill with or without placebo stamped on it either ;)

... ok so new topic - new thread..... will do.... but quickly anyone want to make a lot of money who is already promoting e cigs or if you aren't yet but want a great opportunity and EXPERT (that would be me) help getting in while its hot... hit me up asap!

so far, I'm a big fan. I take one in the morning with a cup of coffee, and one right after lunch to keep me going. I don't feel a buzz like with energy drinks or caffeine, just a nice sense of urgency and focus. I was quite productive this week, got a lot of stuff rolling for serpIQ and on some of my own sites so I'm happy.

It also makes me overall feel happier. A nice elevated mood. I dig that.

I sleep like a fucking rock when I have taken them, which is great because I generally sleep like shit (anxiety + sleep doesn't add up well). The only downside is if you set an alarm to wake up at a decent hour, you wake up feeling REALLY groggy. I woke up feeling hungover today when I hadn't had more than 2 beers last night.

Still working out the best method to use them, but I'm a fan so far. $40/bottle seems expensive but the productivity they've added to my day pays for itself in like 15 minutes so I'm ok with it.

Still taking this stuff? Still working out for you?

I hate Adderall - HATE IT - I've had both the IR and XR prescribed and I feel like a crackhead when I take it.

I'm pretty productive now but I feel like I could be moreso. Thought about modifinil but don't feel like asking a doc to prescribe it and I don't know of any trustworthy source to purchase online.

Figured as a shot in the dark I'd ask about the AlphaBrain supplement (although as with anything I'm skeptical).

Hmm, so I have been taking Alpha Brain since Thanksgiving. Since I am a time management / productivity freak I wanted to see if Alpha Brain was a placebo or legit.

I track the time I spend working vs breaks taken using Toggl and I try to keep it as accurate as possible, this is something I have been using before I took Alpha Brain so there is no bias on it.

For my breaks I summed up the times I was not working and lunches taken. For times worked I summed up the times I spent on my email, meetings and working on my next actions.

Travel time was not included since its not a break or work but something in between.

I started taking alpha brain the week of Thanksgiving which is 11/28 highlighted in green.

My daily dose is one capsule every morning. I also take Acidophilus / Bifidus, 2500mg of Fish Oil, and Animal Pak Multivitamins. My stack is identical pre and post alpha brain with the exception of alpha brain itself.

Mentally I was unsure if it was going to work or not. In order to counteract any placebo effects I decided to do a two month test.

The work to break ratio was derived by the formula of work / break (pretty simple)

Here are my results

Some interesting things to note. My low week on Alpha Brain 1/9/12 was actually a week I did not take Alpha Brain. Also note that it seems like it takes 2 weeks to go into full effect, both on 11/28 and after 1/9 there is a jump. I was not aware of this jump until I saw a results so there are no placebo bias for both situations.

My average work to break ratio before alpha brain was 2.74, post alpha brain 5.28. Effectively my amount of work doubled.

One thing that you cannot see in this image is my work hours total and break totals. What I noticed is my break totals stayed about the same while my work pretty much doubled.

Furthermore my focus has increased, I go a lot longer without needing a break.

I can't comment on the creativity portion of Alpha Brain since its hard to measure.

Dream wise I saw no difference either, I am the type of person that does not remember his dreams and that has remained.

Physical side effects, I did get my first migraine ever while on Alpha Brain, I am not sure if its related or not. I also had an eye twitch twice, which again I am not sure if its related or not

Cool to see. I might get a bottle now. Thanks for the great research.

What happened to those 2 other guys that tried alpha brain?

Nicotine patch and coffee works wonders.

AND if thats not good enough for you, add some piracetam on top.

So it's recently come to my attention that I have ADHD -- serious here.

The lowest score I've gotten on those online tests is 77 where 35 means you probably have it.

So I've contacted a number of shrinks in my insurance plan and I can't get any help so far. Psychiatrists seem like the most unprofessional group of doctors in the world -- only 2 answered me back. One said I need to go to a neuro - psychologist to take a test then find a shrink to write the prescription. wtf?

Anyone in the NYC area that knows a reasonable doc for some help; please PM me...

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I found my bottle of Instant Focus that I had ordered a while ago.

Has anyone tried this stuff? The website is no longer up...

Same here, bought a bottle and never opened it. If their site isn't up anymore, I guess that's a good reason to throw it away.

I went to a psychologist (non-script writing) to take the test and he wrote up his assessment. I just took that to my regular doc and he wrote up the script every 3 months.

Funny thing about docs and meds, though: the less you want, the more they want to give you.

At 40mg, I was nearly chewing through my desk. I wanted a lower dose and he only did it after some convincing.

Kind of funny seeing how most people want more and complain they can't get their doc to go along.
