The people you're addressing, myself included, have come to the realization that reason was never in the system to begin with.
...to expand on my point above, we've seen what happens to minarchism. When America was founded, it was the perfect case study of minarchism with the creation of the republic. The whole philosophy was of minimal government. What has happened since 1776? We went from the smallest government, to the largest and most powerful and destructive government ever. Why??
Because small governments (as we once had) enable free markets. Free markets create a lot of wealth, taxable wealth from which that small government can use to become large. This happens because people are corruptible, especially those who we grant special privileges and label politicians. It's why governments have never once stayed small. It's because we give special privileges to a group of people, privileges that we don't even believe in on a personal level, like ignoring property rights, or the initiation of violence.

People need to fucking wake up and realize the way this government is structured, there will always only be 2 fucking parties controlling things. This isn't a parliamentary government. Three parties are NEVER going to happen.
You've got to pick a fucking side and mold that party into what you want. The time to fight for your guy is during the primary season and at the local level.
It's about 2 guys now and you better fucking wake up and vote for the one that is going to cause the least damage (Romney) and keep fighting to make the Republican party more Liberty minded at the local and state levels. The Democrat party is over as far as Liberty is concerned.

The only time the republican party is more liberty minded is during election season, and of course that's only at face value. Just look at the last republican who had 8 consecutive years, our liberties didn't exactly increase during that time.
There's no difference now between republicans and democrats except in label. They're all politicians.
I don't disagree but that's changing with the tea party movement. You've seen a whole slew of old guard republicans kicked to the curb in favor of Liberty minded republicans.
It's because most of us who believe in Liberty and limited government aren't the types to fill up the city councils, local government positions, etc. We've always been content to just do our thing. We aren't in love with government so we've never been actively involved other than voting. The result is that big government lovers have taken over both parties.
So we can no longer sit on the sidelines. We've got to take over the party at all levels and use government to limit government.
Being cynical isn't going to solve shit. We've got to start kicking the blue-hairs out of their chair positions of the GOP and turn it back into the party of limited government.
But by all means vote for some irrelevant 3rd party candidate and get 4 more years of Obama. That'll show em.

There are no political parties that matter called republican or democrat. Those are puppet shows. The two-party system is between Liberty and Tyranny, and the liberty party hasn't had a good candidate since around 1900.

Look son, you and I are on the same side. You just have to realize you're not going to get the changes you want over night. This country didn't become a bloated bureaucracy overnight and it's not going to swing the other way in one election cycle.
Paul understands this. He knows he never had a chance to get elected, it's been about educating and changing the mindset of people. It's worked and he's energized a lot of youth and people that will continue to push for limited government.
You want too much too fast and you're not thinking long term. The more this government grows, the more the sheeple become dependent on it and it's that much harder to turn the ship. The first step is to stop the bleeding.

The fact is that people who want to change things are the minority and the masses are so lazy and sheepish that they can be fed BS like whats on fox news and MSNBC and CNN and still believe it. Fact is they are all self serving douches and the people will go through a cycle or bitching and moaning then election time going to vote for the guy they were bitching and moaning about.

No one here is so disillusioned to believe the status quot would truly change just because a different President is in office. Even if the country did luck out and got Ron Paul, he himself has said that the best he could do is veto everything that crossed his path that didn't meat all of his points in the bills. The veto can only do so much, just like a single man can only do so much.
It's the ideology and knowledge that shapes a nation. Washington won't change until the young generation who hold more and more Libertarian principles is in office. That's at least 20+ years away. Even then it won't fix the corruption until the majority agrees to fix it.
Now, to bring change about now would require a group effort to pool resources, hunt up lots of shady and illegal dirt, and then blackmail or release it on the politicians in office now to get a decent person in office or one that is your face in the public spot light. Doing this on a local, state, and federal level is the only true way to fix all the horrific problems with our country and undo past agendas.

Or maybe, just maybe the majority of people aren't actually sheep, and realize what's going on, but also realize the same as you -- there's nothing substantial they can do about it. A small minority hop on message forums to debate economic theory, while most people realize it's out of their control, and enjoy time with their family, friends, and loved ones.
I don't know, this whole calling people sheep things seems a bit detrimental, don't you think? People aren't that stupid, and I'm quite certain do realize what's happening. But what would you like them to do? Bitch on internet forums? Maybe start throwing grenades at cop cars?
