I Just Lost My Freakin Job! What Are Politicians Thinking?

I GOT FIRED QUICK BLAME EVERYONE BUT MYSELF, ESPECIALLY THE GOVERNMENT

You obviously didnt get the point of my thread, but your newbie guide helped me setup my first site that made me my first affiliate marketing dollar.

One of the main points of the thread was that I, a non rich person, understand that taxing and punishing the rich and business owners only leads to more unemployment. So if I can see it, why cant the current politicians. Had the people who owned the company I worked for had a reason to invest in the business, I would still have a job. But, it seems that the current political environment is to tax and punish the rich on behalf of the poor - even though the poor get nothing in return.

Thanks for your concern

I know a lot of people are going to chastise you for blaming the government for your loss of job (and they are right to), but for the love of god, the sooner you learn to stop blaming anyone else for your problems the better off you will be. Seriously. Okay, you got put into a shitty situation, find another one. There are literally millions of ways to make money, but having an attitude of "the odds are stacked against me and I can't ever win" is what is going to help you lose. And I ain't talking about no spiritual, new age, "The Secret" type of bullshit, this is real talk player.

Just like the people that bitch and whine (you can see them on these forums) about how traffic source x doesn't work, offer y scrubs too hard, or that the industry itself isn't sustainable are the real noobs out there. Do you ever see dullspace complaining about scrubs? The answer is NO.

PS: Read Atlas Shrugged.

First you say:
You lose YOUR job and its the democrats fault and they aren't doing their job? I know it sucks and all, but pull your head out of the sand man. The unemployment rate has been dropping like a lead balloon for well over a year, affecting millions. Look to the banks and lenders, wall street and the Bush administration if you want some root cause.

Then this:
No, I think he nailed it. You lost your job and you honestly think it has to do with a particular political party. Suck it up and look for another job.

Are you totally, or just partially confused?

wow you are so funny. You seriously should win the emmy of funniness for 2010 for this comment. God please give me guidance so I can be more like audax and repeat played-out quotes in a futile attempt to show humor so that I may impress my peers who for the most part are kids living in their parent's basements or Indians selling services.

oh yeah and I'm Rick James bitch

Listen man, the tide is turning on you, any sympathy from a community comprised mostly of self sufficient people (that are willing to help and encourage you) for your predicament is slipping the more you more you cling to this victim mentality. Let it go and get to work.

I did let it go, it was just a shocking surprise after 8 years. Anyway, I refer you to post #58 where I thanked everyone for their responses and explained what I am doing. I am over the shock of the job loss, but I was never looking for sympathy.

The government part of the thread was really to get a discussion going on what our government is, or is not doing, to ease the pain of the economy. That was all. I wasnt trying to play the victim card, but I admit I did feel like a victim. Anyway, I am over it.

Again, thanks for your responses. FTC-Hater's post on job hunting was the post that got my creative, actionable juices going.

I didn't bother reading the responses... but how the hell is you getting fired the government's fault?

Hello friend,

That way it usual work. If lose job lot time person think it fault of other. Can be government, boss or society.

But if have good job think it because self very smart and talent. No think have job because of government or boss.

Good luck bro

I don't understand people who actually want to be employed. That said there is nothing wrong with it, and it beats not being employed and not being self sufficient either. If it were me I would have already built my business income or I would be starting on it fast.

I saw a news segment on an 82 year old lady who lost her job at Sam's Club. She basically said if she didn't have a job to go to at her age she would sit around the house and die. I feel sad for her, not because she lost her job, but because she has that mentality. How anyone could not find something better to do than go to some job, especially a shitty paying menial one, I will never understand. If you have no skills and need to eat, that's one thing. But if you just have nothing in the world you would rather do?

The best thing the government could do to "help" or ease the economy would be to cease existing. That's not going to happen, so I guess the next best thing is to not try to help and stay out of the way as much as possible.

Anyway, now I am a victim of this freakin economy. I have no job, no health insurance for the family, and life is going to suck really bad before for a long for me. And I see a lot more people meeting the same fate as me if our leadership doesnt get out of the way with their high taxes and regulations.

It sucks that you lost your job and all but stop playing the victim card, and stop looking to Washington for answers. The only person responsible for your current situation is you, and the only person that is going to get you out of your current situation is you.

It certainly is scary to loose your primary source of income, but it's also an opportunity to try something and take some chances that you could never have taken before with the full time job holding you back.

Maybe go back to school, develop some IM talents, start a new side business. These are all things you can do while looking for full time work.

Here's what you do -- live in a van down by the river.

Or just be really, really frugal and downsize.

I had a nice job for the past 8 years. It was nice and cozy, and I thought I had a real future with this large company. But, my job was suddenly eliminated today. Actually, my bosses job was eliminated so he took my position in order to stay with the company.

I dont understand the mentality of the Democrats in congress and the White House. Once they see that they cant get Health Care passed due to that election last week, Obama decides he is going to tackle jobs. Come on! Are you serious? You wait till you cant get what you want before you start dealing with the important things. ( I also lost my families health insurance, but I am still against gov't healthcare.)

Here is what I dont understand. It seems that the only thing jobs related coming out of congress for the last year is tax the rich and tax business owners. I am neither. I am just a middle class American, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to see the folly in this thinking.

Shouldnt government be lowering taxes on the rich and businesses? It seems like the best way to grow an economy is to give the people with the money an incentive to invest and spend that money, thus causing the economy to grow. I know I am just a middle class nobody, so I am probably just uninformed, but alot of people are losing their jobs and lifestyles due to the ignorance of Democrats in control of the country.

Cut Capitol Gains taxes so rich will invest. Cut taxes on small businesses so owners can grow their businesses. Small business owners do not need capitol gains tax cuts. They generally do not pay those taxes.

Anyway, now I am a victim of this freakin economy. I have no job, no health insurance for the family, and life is going to suck really bad before for a long for me. And I see a lot more people meeting the same fate as me if our leadership doesnt get out of the way with their high taxes and regulations.

I am a little lucky. I saved up around $4K from my writing services over the past 6 months. I never could keep steady work. It was hit and miss. I was using that money to test Facebook (finally). I started a thread in the Newbie section about it. I never made a conversion, but I didnt test a lot.

Now, I dont know what to do. Continue to test Facebook and risk losing my savings (that wasnt my savings - until today that was my play money), or stop and live off this $4K as long as I can. I have only spent about $200 in testing, but I havent made a conversion.

So, discuss the tax issue, and offer me some advice on what to continue to do in regards to testing Facebook.

Thanks

People lose jobs during recessions despite the current political party in power. You are blaming the govt for your inability to be resourceful and provide for your family, whatever...

how long have we been in a recession? (much longer than the current president has been in office)

how long have you been on notice that you might lose your job at any moment and should save money and have backup plans in place?

hint: the second question is rhetorical.
