^^^ Exactly what I was thinking...as CTRs tank, so do quality scores - meaning, in the short term, higher CPCs - there will be lashback from advertisers obviously
Just registered a thousand partial keyword domain names. Thanks elephant man!
Anyone know the percent of searches that are done from the Google site? Surely quite a high percent must be from: web browser default searches, adsense search boxes, add on toolbars etc..
Mikesev made some good points.
One other thing, it's obvious why G has done this: it massively increases monetisable real estate.
Example: You're bidding on 'lawyer', 'la' now becomes a target for you so that you're the first relevant result.
This is goodl ol automatic matching on steroids and takes the choice to opt out away from the advertiser.
bahahaha this is so retarted, i love the old guy "I don't have to press enter anymore" BAHAHA fucking lazy retarted old people. hahaha
i seriously doubt google will show results based on partial words. remember, google's ultimate goal is relevancy - bidding on "la" could show you results from lawyers to labia stretching services. it's trying to predict your overall search phrase, not give you results based on "la"
What changes
New predicted query
Although Google Instant won't change the way ads are served, ads and search results will now be shown for a new "predicted query." For example, if someone types "flow" into Google, an algorithm predicts that the user is searching for "flowers" (the predicted query) and therefore displays search listings and ads for flowers. Those results will continue to show unless the next letters that the user types lead to a different predicted query.

No, on their Adwords page:
They will show results for partial words. Well, Flow is a word, but you get what I mean.
I do agree though that this completely changes how we have been monetizing keywords. Targeting micro niches will become even more important in ranking for the 2-3 word keywords and trying to get all of the traffic in a niche.
Your page titles will become even more important too in ensuring that if you are ranking in the top positions you don't lose traffic from people who happen to stumble upon your site while typing in a query.

Oh, and for some shameless advertising, I did make a blog post about Google Instant Search.
I had to put up an article for class anyway, so I figured I'd write another.
lol yeah I just hate retarts
Funny it won't let you use the instant search feature on certain words, but if you hit enter all the results still come up like normal. Try typing in "boobs"
