Do you do that polyphastic sleep stuff (or whatever it's called)? Like, you sleep a 4 or 5 hour chunk and then take a few naps at the right times?3-5hrs depending if I REM. I have taught myself how to REM right away which is the only sleep your body really needs. So you are tricking your brain/body that you have slept for 8-10hrs which is what you really need. I can hop into REM like 3-5 times/night and wake up without feeling sleepy at all. If you have any questions just ask I have some techniques. Also in REM you can lucid which I love doing. If you're not REMing you're just wasting time in bed cause your brain doesn't sleep without that state
