I just think it's ironic & hypocritical you would pick anyone out for being angry...
have you actually read the book? cause the god in it is a pretty messed up character.

I have, (probably) unlike most people railing on this thread, and I don't think he's "messed up" whatsoever.
First off, the Hebrew word for "jealous" in the Old Testament has a very different meaning than the extremely negative connotation in the English language. It also had multiple meanings based on the context. The Bible says love is not jealous, but Paul clearly provides a different definition showing there were two. Like "love" in the English language.
But someone would have to read the Bible and take the time to understand the context. Before I read the Bible, I had many of the opinions like in this thread that were based on half-truths. As I read through the whole thing instead of cherry picking verses, I found myself saying, "Oh... that's why it said ____." I challenge someone who is obviously interested enough in the Christian God to post a bunch of times on this thread, to actually read the whole thing. It just takes 57 hours start-to-finish. Shoot, listen to the mp3s.
2nd - God does come out angry, because he created all of this, gave us the rules, and we've f-ed it up time after time. Of course an American would think a "dictatorship" is abhorrent. But that's because we live in a democracy. Watch how the US presses democracies on people and it's not always a good thing. btw, God is quite lenient, but he is also just. I wouldn't want a judge in my county that lets scumbags go all the time. That I'm still walking this earth is testament alone to God's leniency.
3rd - Violence? Nature is violent, too but I don't see anyone whining about that. I mentioned in an earlier post why I believe God's taking of human life is just so I won't repeat it here.
Call my God all the names you want - he doesn't need me to protect him. If he did, he wouldn't be a very good God.
One question & hoping someone can help with. I don't hunt down, let's say - Hindu forum posts and go round and round w/ them calling whatever Hindus believe in to be weak, foolish, etc. But, people will stay all day on a thread to bash the God of the Bible.
Why is that? Why waste your time? I've seen people say, it's because Christians ram their faith down people's throats, but I've rarely heard of an actual incidence - mostly anecdotal stories that reach Paul Bunyan-esque legendary status. I think the aggressiveness by which people flock to jabbing at the Bible proves it's legitimacy even more.
Anyway - despite our extreme differences of opinion, I do appreciate the opportunity to discuss with everyone - good to see what people are thinking.

You don't know what the Old Testament and the New Testament means to a Christian because all you do is eagerly eat your propaganda, munch on it and then spew it across threads like these in a desperate attempt to appear knowledgeable. I find it amazing how swift you were to levy a barrage of insulting labels to the Bible without so much as a single comment towards the Koran, which is what this thread was originally about. But that's because that's all you know. You really have no idea what you're talking about. I know as much or more about the bible as you do. I was raised a southern babtist. Went to church every wednesday and sunday for 18 years. Read the bible evernight. Bible study in the mornings. Vacation bible school in the summer. So yes I know what I'm talking about and I know what those passages mean and what they're referring to. Here's where your predictable attack fails; I never claimed to be a Christian. I'm simply clarifying its doctrines to people that are spreading outright falsehoods. You've ignored the incredible venom emanating from the anti-Christian crowd here, perhaps because its become a virtual echo chamber in here on that topic, most likely due to the vicious anti-Christian hatred. I wonder, wonder why there is no anti-Islam hatred. Seems as if the Muslims have had their fair share of 'religious wars' and have several questionable verses in their holy texts. Without Christianity, you wouldn't be enjoying the liberties you have today as a women. Most other cultures and religeons view women as inferior. Most civil rights movements in modern western civilizations, had Christianity as it's core.
You as well as the rest of the social progressives, don't hesitate to attack Christianity, yet it is one of the reasons that you have the right to even give your opinion.
You state that you know knothing about Isam, so thats why you only attack Christianity? Surely you know that in most Islamic countries, women are treated like dogs?
