So somewhat off topic, but does anyone see FB finding a good way to monetize mobile? Are we getting to a point where Social Networks are going to have a membership fee to them of like $5 a month? I mean there's already paid membership forums, I don't really think it's that far off.

People would be pissed at first, but then they'd say, hey, it's just 5 bucks.

P.S. If Facebook stocks drop below $10 I'm gonna snatch some up, otherwise I'm staying far away.

Facebook's current strategy for monetizing mobile is with "Sponsored Stories" <== this is bringing in about $500k per day w/ mobile

Earlier this year, we launched Sponsored Stories in Facebook News Feed. Sponsored Stories are regular stories that people see in the News Feeds already, updates, likes, comments posted to Facebook every day that a marketer pays to highlight. For example, if I post a positive review of a product I purchased at Wal-Mart, about 20% of my friends have seen the post, depending on things like when they check their News Feed. Using Sponsored Stories, Wal-Mart can pay to boost distribution of this post so a larger percentage of my friends see it.
Mark has always been against the paid model.

Ahh, I didn't think about sponsored stories as a way to get around not having ads on mobile. Good point.

And I also think FB needs to do a better job of integrating the newsfeed into their mobile App. I almost forget about it when I'm on my phone. It's like I check Facebook passively, more like I would an EMail.

And yeah I mean that paid model will take a while to get social acceptance.

Has anyone considered the possibility of FB monetizing their API's? cant say for sure, but I would venture a guess they are not even scratching the surface for the potential value of their API's. They are already tightly intertwined with a huge percentage of the web.

Also, I don't know the legalities of what they could do with it, but I would say the asset value of their email database and information of almost every single user on the planet is worth at least $10 billion+.

Facebook already charges companies 30% revenue on their API (if that was what you were asking?) I believe all charges and fees it ads up to around 20% of their revenue.

The largest potential for more ad revenue is within their Facebook Ad Exchange -- but they need it to start generating a ton of $$ now or else investors aren't going to allow the high valuation much longer (yep, even after a 50% drop it still isn't cheap)

I would not even dare go long on Facebook before the lockout period. There is definitely still room for downside without a doubt.

So it is true...buying stock is for long term investment...buy at ipo and keep buying until it hits rock bottom then pray that there is no negative press release then sell when at the point where you should realize a profit...after you decided not jump from the top floor of the building you work at...

Facebook share price hits all time LOW after revealing it has more than 83million FAKE accounts | Mail Online

Facebook's share price today hit an all time low of $19.82 which values the social networking giant at almost half its May initial offering price of $38.
The company’s stock dropped 88 cents on Thursday, dropping to its new low after the company posted disappointing earnings last week.
It also directly followed the revelation today there are now more than 83 million fake users on its social network.

The astonishing figure makes up 8.7% of all Facebook's 995 million active users.
The true scale of the problem was hidden in a company filing published this week, the first since the firm went public.

Duplicate profiles made up 4.8% of the fakes, user-misclassified accounts amounted to 2.4%, and 1.5% of users were described as 'undesirable'.
There were 83.09 million fake users in total, which Facebook classified in three groups.
The largest group were duplicate accounts, such as those set up by people to keep their activities from their partner.
The firm defined them as 'an account that a user maintains in addition to his or her principal account.'

So have any of you been following Sprint? The stock has more than doubled since I first suggested it in this thread. On top of that, midday I ended up purchasing a position into it and more than doubled my position in the next 4 hours.

I could go on and on as to why Sprint will continue to rise. So the bottom line, who's currently benefiting from the awesome push?

If it closes under 20, that is bad

If it closes at 20 or above, that might good

overall market has been rocking btw

If you're going to buy. Buy now. Under 20 ashare.

Edit: it's been at 20 a share. Well the lockout is done.

The lockout isn't over -- there are still at least 3 more lockout periods ending this October, November and next May.

Around 250 million shares will be released during that time period just in Oct and Nov. This will total around 1.2 billion shares available to trade. <= dilution, dilution, dilution

3 more? I was going off what I read. I know the CEO is locked in until nov. those who got in during may was able to sell today.

Yep, an additional 2Billion shares will be eligible to sell between now and next May.

Also, note that Peter Thiel just converted all his class B shares to A shares six days ago in order to be more liquid in selling <= 9.3 million shares.

SEC FORM 4

1.32 Billion shares will be freed after the Nov 14 lockup.... To put that in perspective, only 271 million shares were freed this time around... The next lock up will free more than 4 times that amount. This shit is a joke... It's like watching a bad movie, and you know the ending. Facebook is going to be in single digits before it every hits $40 again.

Currently with the 271, there is a total of 692 millions shares outstanding... And in nov the will flood it with an additiona 1.32 Billion shares. That a little less than double the current outstanding stocks...

Anybody with a half a brain will tell you that if you increase the supply of a product by 66%, without any signs of increase in demand, the price is going to drop, period. Using logic, people should see at minimum a 33% drop in price the first day, but that's using logic, I doubt that will happen, but things always even out in the end.

On Nov 15, the outstanding shares will go from 692 million to 2.012 BILLION.... This shit is a fiasco... It would be wise to short that stock 2 weeks before that date... Wall Street got greedy on this one, and thought that the average investor is either retarded, or stupid.

Good luck bros.
