LOL - Come on.. That's a fair comment? He is one of the few that openly share good info, as are you. (Even if there is an ulterior motive, that's how you gain some credibility, right?)

LOL - OK, maybe not that clear, but as for myself, I knew they where hacked from the get go. Gut feeling at least.

Make sure you explain this to Matt Cutts when Google blacklists the client sites.
- Fair comment. But, my point was just aimed at the legalities. (As i said, many of us have and still do obtain shady links, even just for tier 1/2 that compromise other peoples sites/lively hoods and do so without a care.)
My point isn't to say it's wrong or right, but it goes on.

CC is all round positive and cares to share some of his strategies with us.
How can you be in this industry and yet be so gullible. Whenether someone shares information and advice they're doing it for a reason. There's nothing wrong with that, it's good business practice, but don't for a second think someone, especially in this industry, is helping you out of charity.

I have a much lower opinion of myself than you do. I stopped posting for nearly 3 months and like, 5 people noticed.

The truth is, people will always follow the guy who makes the most noise. CC knew exactly what he was doing, and I suspect he will return and carry on, and if there was any harm, all will be forgiven.

Guys like Grindstone and I have deliberately avoided developing cults of personality because we're actually really fucking boring people, and we have a hard time stomaching our own marketing. We couldn't believe any hype we tried to generate for ourselves. Some guys have stronger stomachs.

And its exactly that reasoning/maturity that makes me pay attention when you do contribute.

If you read my other comments you'd see that's a garbage response. I didn't once mention it was charity nor do I think that for one second. I know how it works and gaining credibility is a key factor in winning new business. (There's an ulterior motive behind everyone's actions.)

I was stating that he contributes more than most with interesting relevant material...

Its one thing to admire a person. But its another to keep giving them the rusty trombone.

BTW for your personal life. Stop letting people walk all over you.

Rusty Trombone

To get rimmed whilst recieving a hearty reach round, thus resembling a trombone player in full chorus

All I know is I'm not ballin enough to risk $1000+ on a single, solitary link. Links are good and all, but it better bring some damn traffic with it for that kind of dough, not just the hopes and dreams of a serp boost.

He charges 1k for a link and people buy? You guys do relize the russians are selling these links for like two bucks all day everyday. (not talking about sape)

I dont buy them. I like live blogs / sites where the owners are okay with it. They charge like three bucks.

Ccarter's a good guy and contributed a lot to this forum which helped a lot of people out. Like it or not, he'll be back, carrying on, and offering SEO services like a boss.

We'll find out Ccarter's side when he's unbanned. I'm sure there's a lot more to the story than we currently know.

I wasn't laughing at what you said, but how you said it.

I'm not debating that CC has shared here. Most of you can barely install WP, so it's like manna from heaven when someone shares basic webmaster techniques that are over a decade old. And again, I think it's great he does that. He takes old, boring, forgotten information, and makes it interesting and relevant.

OK, maybe not that clear, but as for myself, I knew they where hacked from the get go. Gut feeling at least.
CC did a lot of marketing about being above blackhatting shitty links. This is the guy who tells you not to rely on Google traffic, remember?

This isn't directed at you personally, although it may be applicable, but people are so fucking dumb. Seriously, people just buy in, whether it's a politician, or a religious leader, or a guy who has a PhD without actually considering if what they are being told is congruent with what they were told 10 mins ago.

FFS Be a skeptic. Think for yourself. Question everything.

I have done my share of shady stuff, but I always ran it to parasites. Anyone who buys these links for client sites is an idiot.

Go easy brothers, no point having this debate - Good CC vs. Bad CC. From what I understand he violated a BST rule and he got a two week vacation for that. What's the big deal with this anyway? It's justified as it should be.

Carry on....
